Invisalign® treatment gives you the best, beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. At DaBell & Paventy Orthodontics, a complimentary consultation with our top orthodontists can determine if Invisalign clear aligners are right for you.
Invisalign is a series of clear braces or aligners that move your teeth, step by step, from where they are now into the position you want them to be. Getting Invisalign is so easy! To get started, your orthodontist will take some pictures, x-rays, and a digital scan of your teeth.
Using the scan, a virtual model of your teeth is created – that’s the starting point. The teeth are then moved to their ideal position by one of our orthodontists– that’s the finishing point. All the tooth movements to get from the starting point to the finishing point are then broken up into little steps. Each little step represents a new aligner.
How Does Invisalign Work?
You wear each set of aligners for about one to two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions.
You’ll visit one of our Spokane area offices about once every eight to twelve weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. We are there to make adjustments as needed to ensure you get an exceptional result. Total treatment time averages are similar to braces, 12-18 months, and the average number of aligners worn during treatment will vary from case to case.
Why Should I Want Invisalign?
Not only are the clear aligners virtually invisible, they are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also more comfortable than traditional braces, with no metal or wires, which also usually means you spend less time in our office getting adjustments.
Invisalign treatment allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can get a sneak peek of your straight teeth prior to popping in your first aligner!
Benefits Of In-Office Treatment By Invisalign Dentists
With direct-to-consumer orthodontic programs, you might not know whether you’re dealing with an orthodontist or a general dentist.
The difference is that an orthodontist undergoes two or more years of further training after dental school. Both Dr. DaBell and Dr. Paventy have special training and experience with clear aligners that allow for more difficult treatments to be possible. This experience also gives Dr. DaBell and Dr. Paventy greater expertise in fixing crooked teeth and misaligned jaws.
Even then clear aligners aren’t suitable for all orthodontic issues, and a specialist orthodontic practice can offer alternatives such as ceramic or metal braces to better accommodate your specific needs. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) warns that “do-it-yourself” orthodontic treatment can result in lasting damage.
At Dr. DaBell & Paventy Orthodontics, we have made the best orthodontic treatment simple and comfortable for patients – but it is a complex medical service, not a device or product.
What Does Invisalign Cost?
Invisalign typically costs anywhere from $2,000 – $6,000 in Spokane Valley, Cheney, and Liberty Lake, depending on the complexity of the treatment, the length of time treatment, and the number of aligners that are required. The typical orthodontic patient treated with Invisalign will usually pay between $5,000-$6,000. In most cases, the cost of Invisalign is very similar to what the cost of braces would be.
When you’re thinking about the cost of Invisalign, focus on the value of Invisalign. You’re investing in yourself or your child, in something that will make a bigger difference than almost anything else and will last a lifetime. And the added bonus is you can do it all without wearing braces!
After your Invisalign treatment, you’ll need “retainers” to maintain the position of your teeth. Most of our patients who finish Invisalign prefer clear retainers. They look very much like the Invisalign aligners – they are clear, plastic, and cover all of the teeth – but there are two important differences.
Unlike the aligners, the retainers are not moving your teeth, they are maintaining the position of your teeth. The retainers are made of a more durable and more rigid type of plastic. This allows them to effectively maintain the position of your teeth for the long term. Clear retainers are very comfortable and work great for patients who were treated with Invisalign or with braces.
Clear Retainer Maintenance
Clear retainers require maintenance over time. You need to clean them every day to keep them looking and smelling good. You also have to replace them over time because they do wear out. Nothing lasts forever, and it’s important to replace your retainers when they start to show signs of significant wear.
How Long Do I Have To Wear The Invisalign Retainer?
When patients finish treatment with Invisalign, we typically recommend retainer wear for 12-16 hours per day, gradually decreasing over the first few months to wearing them just while you sleep. It takes a little effort to wear your retainers but considering what you’ve invested in your smile, it’s well worth the effort to maintain it.
